Antoine Borel had a magnificent home in San Francisco, an estate on the Peninsula and a chateau in Switzerland

A lot of in San Francisco’s banking and business communities held Antoine Borel in awe. Some insisted he was the city’s quintessential aristocrat. He maintained a grand city residence in addition to a sprawling country estate on the Peninsula near San Mateo, with a hunting lodge in the nearby hills.

The family home in San Francisco at 1882 Wa. Petersburg had previously been the home of San Francisco politician William J. Dingee, a man of questionable repute but one who had a passion for glamorous homes.
